We are a parish in mourning. Our beloved Rev. Sheilagh passed away on June 28, as the sun graced her face that Sunday morning. It was truly the light of God calling her home.

Please pray for Sheilagh’s daughters, Madeleine and Sarah, her siblings Bernie, Chris, Pat, Peter, Brian, and Genny, and for all her family. Condolences can be left on Sheilagh’s blog:

Rev. Sheilagh is described as a kindred spirit by members of her parish. She gently and compassionately accepted everyone and let them know that they were beloved of God. Rev. Sheilagh exuded positivity and wonderment and had a great sense of humour. She was known for her high fives and cherished children and youth, through her children’s talks during service, summer day camp and various youth retreats. Rev. Sheilagh fostered a spiritual community and took the initiative to lead by example and encouraged others to join. Her homilies removed barriers and were delivered in an authentic manner that resonated so well with members of her parish. She made the world feel a bit brighter and more hopeful and her smile lit up the room.
Information on a public Memorial Service will be provided once available.

At her request, anyone interested in making a donation are welcome to do so to any of the following: St. Mary Magdalene in Schomberg or Christ Church in Kettleby by way of emailing, the Toronto Urban Native Ministries at, or Matthews House Hospice in Alliston at, or a charity of your choice. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to send a small arrangement to a loved one and instead of offers of food, encourages any donations to the King Township Food Bank or your local food bank.

Rev. Sheilagh will be deeply missed. We were blessed to have known her and to have loved her. May Sheilagh rest in peace and rise in glory!

Prayers of the Church

Pray for Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury;
for our Primate, Linda Nicholls;
for our Metropolitan, Anne Germond;
for our Diocesan Bishop, Andrew Asbil;
and for our Suffragan Bishops, Peter Fenty,
Ryscilla Walsh-Shaw, Keven Robertson
and Jenny Andison.

O God of unchangeable power and eternal light,
look favourably on your whole Church,
that wonderful and sacred mystery.
By the effectual working of your providence,
carry out in tranquillity the plan of salvation.
Let the whole world see and know
that things which were cast down are being raised up,
and things which had grown old are being made new,
and that all things are being brought to their perfection
by him through whom all things were made,
your Son Jesus Christ our Lord;
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayers of Thanksgiving for the Church and for our Parish

Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for all your goodness and loving-kindness
to us and all whom you have made.
We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up ourselves to your service,
and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom with you and the Holy Spirit,
be honour and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
we give you thanks our life together
in the Parish of Lloydtown.
We pray for all who call
Christ Church, Kettleby or
St. Mary Magdalene, Schomberg
their spiritual home
and for our Incumbent, Sheilagh Ashworth,
and our Interim Priest-in-Charge, George Elliott.
May God give us the courage and faith
to meet the challenges to which you call us
in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Prayers for Healing

Almighty God,
you are the only source of health and healing.
In you there is calm,
and the only true peace in the universe.
Grant to each one of us your children
an awareness of your presence,
and give us perfect confidence in you.
In all pain and weariness and anxiety
teach us to yield ourselves to your never failing care,
knowing that your love and power surround us,
trusting in your wisdom and providence
to give us health and strength and peace
when your time is best;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
